DOM (Decentralized Otter Money) Utility Token: Currency for In-Game Asset Purchases and Upgrades

Document ID: HWCD-DOM-IG-001 Version: 1.0 Date: October 26, 2023 Classification: Sensitive - Ecosystem Economics & Compliance

Introduction: D.O.M. as the Ecosystem's Primary Utility Token for In-Game Purchases

The D.O.M. (Decentralized Otter Money) token is explicitly designated as a primary utility token for in-game asset purchases and upgrades within the Hello World Co-Op DAO Ecosystem. Its fundamental design is meticulously crafted for functionality and real-world impact, rather than speculative investment. A non-negotiable aspect of its tokenomics is the explicit declaration that D.O.M. has NO governance role whatsoever; voting rights and influence are strictly managed by non-transferable, soulbound Membership NFTs and temporary, time-bound voting tokens. This deliberate separation is a critical design choice to prevent the token from being classified as a security by regulatory bodies like the SEC, a proactive measure reinforced by the ongoing pursuit of an SEC No-Action Letter.

D.O.M. operates on an economic model characterized by a fixed total supply of 420 Trillion (420,000,000,000,000) DOM and an immutable 0% inflation rate, with all tokens fully minted at genesis. This foundational scarcity underpins its role in the ecosystem's regenerative economic model.

Otter Camp: The Gamified Platform for In-Game Purchases

The primary platform where D.O.M. is utilized for in-game asset purchases and upgrades is Otter Camp, a browser-based RPG designed as "the game that rebuilds worlds". In this post-climate flood world, players act as 'Pirate Otters' and engage with "quests" that fund DAO-approved real-world infrastructure proposals. The in-game world visibly expands and unlocks new features, directly mirroring real-world development progress.

D.O.M. Utility for In-Game Assets and Upgrades

D.O.M. is the designated currency for a wide array of in-game purchases and upgrades within Otter Camp, directly enhancing gameplay and reflecting real-world infrastructure development. These include:

**General In-Game Assets:** D.O.M. is used for acquiring standard
in-game items and resources.

Player-Owned
Settlements & Town-Building: D.O.M. contributes to
DAO-funded housing, enabling in-game town-building mechanics where
players can construct and upgrade various structures within their
Otter Camps.

Otter Camp
Upgrades and Structures: This encompasses a variety of buildings
and infrastructure within the game that contribute to in-game
progress and reflect real-world development:

	Housing
Expansions (e.g., Affordable Housing, Modular Homes, Floating
	Villages, Eco-City Districts).

	Shipyard
Upgrades for faster travel and better exploration.

	Energy Hubs to
generate extra energy and reduce cooldowns.

	Marketplace
Buildings for trading resources and upgrades.

	Tinkerer's
Workshops/Makerspaces to unlock crafting mechanics for ship
	upgrades and special tools.

	Otter Learning
	Centers and Otter Wellness Clinics.

	Infrastructure
like Solar Power Outposts, Wind Energy Turbines, Hydro Power
Systems, and River Source Rejuvenation structures.

NFT-Backed
Assets: D.O.M. facilitates purchases of NFT-backed assets such
as ships, equipment, upgrades, and rare ship customizations,
including those from the Hidden Island of the Tinkerers.

Power-Ups
and Cosmetics: D.O.M. can be used for in-game store purchases
for power-ups (energy boosts, travel speed, XP boosts) and various
cosmetic items and skins (e.g., solar-themed NFT skins, ship
cosmetics).

D.O.M. Burn Mechanisms for In-Game Purchases

A central economic mechanism within Otter Camp's in-game economy is the deflationary D.O.M. token burn, which features "elastic burn behavior".

**USD-Denominated Burns:** All D.O.M. burns are denominated in
USD but are executed by burning D.O.M. tokens at the current
transaction price. This creates an "elastic burn behavior"
where a lower D.O.M. price results in more tokens burned per dollar,
leading to robust early deflationary pressure. As the price rises,
fewer tokens are burned per dollar, strategically tapering the burn
rate to preserve the remaining supply over time and ensure long-term
sustainability.

Specific
Burn Rate: For **in-game purchases**, a 5% burn of D.O.M.
spent is applied.

The
DOMBurnManager.sol
smart contract is explicitly responsible for executing all D.O.M.
token burn events according to these tokenomics rules.

Smart Contract Architecture and Integration

The functionality of D.O.M. for in-game purchases is deeply embedded within the ecosystem's modular smart contract architecture.

DOMToken.sol:
The ERC-20 contract that defines the D.O.M. utility token's
properties, including its fixed supply and burn mechanics.

DOMBurnManager.sol:
As detailed above, this contract handles the execution of all D.O.M.
burn events, including those triggered by in-game purchases.

InGameIntegration.sol:
This forward-looking contract connects on-chain events to the Otter
Camp game state, allowing for dynamic game responses based on
funding progress and potentially recording in-game actions on-chain.

TreasuryManager.sol:
The on-chain representation of the DAO’s multi-signature treasury,
which holds and disburses funds, including any proceeds from in-game
purchases (after burns).

Integrated
Game Wallet Functionality: Otter Camp features integrated game
wallet functionality to streamline user experience for in-game
transactions.

Compliance and Regulatory Posture

The transparent and compliant operation of D.O.M. for in-game purchases is critical:

**No Governance Role:** The explicit separation of D.O.M.'s
utility from governance functions is a fundamental design choice to
**avoid its classification as a security** by regulatory bodies
like the SEC.

SEC
No-Action Letter: The Co-Op is actively pursuing an SEC
No-Action Letter to affirm D.O.M.'s status as a utility token.

VASP
Classification: The Hello World Co-Op acknowledges that its
operations, particularly D.O.M. utility token transfers, will likely
classify it as a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) under
FATF standards. This necessitates robust AML/CFT policies "built-in"
*prior to launch*, including transaction monitoring.

Regenerative Economic Impact

The use of D.O.M. for in-game purchases is integral to the Hello World Co-Op's "regenerative economic model". This model ensures that value circulates back into community development and member well-being rather than being extracted by external investors. The deflationary model, tied to ecosystem activity through token burns, means that as more in-game purchases and real-world projects are funded, the remaining D.O.M. tokens become more scarce, benefiting all members.

Roadmap and Development Timeline

Key milestones for D.O.M.'s utility in in-game purchases include:

**Q4 2025 (Oct-Dec):** Alpha Launch Preparations, including
D.O.M. Burn UI Integration, and Testnet Launch Preparations,
including Otter Camp Game Development MVP and Integrated Game Wallet
Functionality.

**Q2 2026:**
Public Launch of the Hello World Co-Op Ecosystem, allowing
permissionless access.

The Mainnet
Game Launch for Otter Camp is targeted by December 2026, within 12
months of a December 2025 announcement.

Intellectual Property

The smart contract code for DOMToken.sol is copyrightable as software code, allowing the Co-Op to control unauthorized derivative works and exploitation. The name "D.O.M." and its associated graphical elements can also be protected via trademark registration.
