Character Creation

When you first enter Otter Camp, you'll be guided through a character creation process to customize your otter avatar. This is your unique identity in the cooperative!

Creating Your Otter

Name Your Otter

Enter a name for your otter character. Names must:

• Be 2-20 characters long
• Contain only letters, numbers, spaces, and hyphens
• Not contain inappropriate language

Choose Your Fur Color

Select from 8 natural otter tones:

• Classic Brown - The traditional otter look
• Dark Brown - A rich, deep brown
• Light Brown - A warm, lighter shade
• Chocolate - Deep chocolatey brown
• Caramel - Golden brown tones
• Espresso - Dark and bold
• Taupe - Subtle gray-brown
• Peru - Warm golden brown

Select Eye Style

Choose eyes that match your personality:

• Default - Standard round eyes
• Sleepy - Half-closed relaxed look
• Alert - Wide and attentive
• Happy - Curved smile eyes
• Determined - Focused and intense

Add Accessories (Optional)

Personalize your otter with accessories:

• Explorer Hat - A safari-style adventure hat
• Red Scarf - A cozy scarf for cold swims
• Round Glasses - Scholarly reading glasses
• Blue Bandana - A stylish head bandana
• Flower - A pretty flower behind your ear

Preview

As you make selections, the preview panel on the left shows how your otter will look in real-time.

Randomize Button

Not sure what to pick? Click the Randomize button to generate a random combination of fur color, eyes, and accessories. You can keep randomizing until you find a look you love!

Confirm

Once you're happy with your otter's appearance and have entered a valid name, click Confirm to save your choices and enter Otter Camp.

Editing Your Appearance Later

Changed your mind? You can edit your otter's appearance at any time:

1. Visit Your Den building in Otter Camp
2. Click the Edit Appearance button
3. Make your changes and confirm

Data Storage

• Guest Users: Your avatar configuration is stored locally in your browser (IndexedDB)
• Members: Your avatar configuration is saved to the DAO's user-service canister

This means members can access their customized otter from any device, while guest configurations are tied to the browser they were created in.
