Quest Chains

Quest chains are optional side quests in Otter Camp that reward exploration with lore and archetype bonuses. The first quest chain is "Song of the Otters."

Song of the Otters

The Song of the Otters is a legendary melody passed down through generations of river otters. The song was broken into 12 verses and scattered across the land. Collect all fragments to restore the complete song.

Starting the Quest

The quest begins automatically when you collect your first fragment. No NPC interaction required - just find a glowing fragment anywhere in the world and collect it.

Collecting Fragments

Fragments appear as glowing orbs throughout Otter Camp:

• Zone Fragments - Found in exploration zones (8 fragments)
• Building Fragments - Found inside buildings (4 fragments)
• Locked Fragments - 3 fragments are in DAO-locked zones (zone-7, 8, 9)

Each fragment has:

• An archetype alignment (Explorer, Guardian, Sage, etc.)
• A unique verse of lore text
• A glow color matching its archetype

Interaction

1. Approach a fragment (glowing orb)
2. A prompt appears when you're in range
3. Press E to collect the fragment
4. The fragment's verse is displayed briefly
5. A notification confirms your collection

Quest Log

Press J to open the Quest Log overlay:

• View total progress (X/12 fragments)
• See which fragments are collected (checkmark)
• See which fragments remain (dash)
• View locked fragments (lock icon)
• When all fragments collected, an "Assemble" button appears

Assembly Sequence

Once all 12 fragments are collected:

1. Visit the Archive building in Camp Hub
2. Interact with the Archive to open it
3. The overlay shows an "Assemble Song" button
4. Click to trigger the assembly sequence
5. A celebration animation plays
6. You receive +5 to all archetypes as a reward

Toast notifications appear for quest events:

Guest vs Member

• Guests: Quest progress saves to browser storage (IndexedDB)
• Members: Quest progress saves to the backend (persistent)
• Migration: When a guest becomes a member, their quest progress transfers

• Explore all zones to find zone fragments
• Enter each building to find building fragments
• Check your Quest Log (J) to track progress
• Some fragments require DAO-funded zone unlocks
• The Archive is where you complete the quest
• Guest progress migrates when you join the co-op
