Tips for Archetype Development
- Be yourself! Your archetype should emerge from your genuine interests and participation style.
- Try new activities to develop a well-rounded profile across multiple archetypes.
- Focus on what matters to you - if you love governance, embrace your Ruler archetype. If you love exploration, lean into Explorer.
- There's no "best" archetype - every archetype contributes something valuable to the community.
Combat Abilities
Certain archetypes unlock special combat abilities in Otter Camp's turn-based combat system. If your dominant archetype has a combat ability, you can use it during battles.
| Archetype | Combat Ability | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Ruler | Construct Barrier | +50% defense for 2 turns |
| Artist | Inspire | +25% damage for 2 turns |
| Caregiver | Soothe | Absorbs next incoming hit |
| Explorer | Find Weakness | Next attack ignores defense |
Other archetypes (Innocent, Sage, Outlaw, Magician, Hero, Lover, Jester, Everyman) don't have combat abilities yet, but may gain unique benefits in future updates.
See Combat for more details on using abilities in battle.
Archetype and Governance
Your archetype doesn't affect your voting power or governance rights - everyone's vote counts equally. However, archetypes help the community understand different perspectives and can be used for matchmaking members with compatible interests.
